The Hello Kitty Truck has made its way back to San Antonio. On April 2 this beautifully designed truck pulled up to the Barnes and Nobles in La Cantera. The event was set to be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., but when I got there at 9:45 a.m. the line was already miles long. It just kept going and looping around. It was longer than the lines at the concert merch stands. I understand that Hello Kitty is life, but come on now.
I didn’t even try to get in line because I knew for a fact that there was no way that little truck had enough merchandise for all those hundreds of people.
The craze for Hello Kitty is great. I love the stuffed animals and fashion styles that have blossomed out of it. I also love the fact that COVID was the least of people’s problems. I wasn’t expecting so many people when online ordering is so big now. They sold enamel pins, treats, shirts, bags, and lunch boxes.
Instead of crowding around the store of La Cantera waiting for merch you probably didn’t get, you can go to Hot Topic, Box Lunch, or a local spot Minnano Japanese Grocery. I have found very cute clothes and figures at most of these places.
