During the winter break the girl’s basketball team continued their season by playing games throughout the break. During their recent games, each player showed improvements that led to the team’s victory, including JV players from that team supporting each other from practices and away games. This sportsmanship showed the respect players have for their teammates which led them to winning multiple games in the last few weeks.
After coming back from break, students have been looking forward to the upcoming games as the new semester starts. The team started the season in late September and has since then been showing progress throughout the school year. In the recent game, the JV girl’s team began with the starting 3 points and ended with 24 ending the game with a win.
“Encouraging my teammates to work together and stay positive throughout the game,” senior Lyah Neira said.
Many varsity basketball players dedicated their time and effort to this game through the break, during practices, and staying dedicated also helped the team bring in wins. The team was able to give an insight into how the game has changed their lives. A player on the team expressed their respect for the amount of time management and prioritizing tasks that helped with finishing the game out strong.
“We do this by practicing and staying dedicated through the game. Just being present and having fun,” Neira said.
