The record for the best start to a season by a team in Europe’s top five leagues, which consisted of 13 consecutive wins and was set during the 1992-1993 season by AC Milan, has been broken by Bayern Munich after they won 14 consecutive games to start their 2025 to 2026 season.
Bayern began their season with a 2-1 victory against the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup. This was the first time they won this trophy since 2022, after losing 3-0 against Leipzig in 2023 and not qualifying for it in 2024.
They also won convincingly in the first matchday of the Bundesliga, a 6-0 scoreline against Lepzeig. They achieved a very important 2-1 victory against Borussia Dortmund in “Der Klassiker”, getting their eleventh consecutive win.
Their game against Monchegladbach was their 13th match of the season, and even though they had trouble scoring, they still managed to win. This victory meant that Bayern equaled AC Milan’s record.
A few days later, they had to face FC Koln in the second round of the DFB Pokal. After falling behind 1-0 against Koln, they managed to score two goals in two minutes, and after scoring two more goals in the second half they won 1-4.
Their 1-4 victory against Koln meant that they broke AC Milan’s legendary record, which Bayern Munich now holds and can continue to build upon.
