Known for his hit movie “Barbarian (2022)”, movie director Zach Cregger released another box-office hit this year titled “Weapons” on August 8th. With a rotten tomato score of 93% from all critics, this movie proves to be a horror phenomenon that will continue to scare and entertain viewers in the future.
In total, the watch time for “Weapons” is 128 minutes (2 hours and 8 minutes) long; this is a significantly longer run time than most horror films. With a lot of added time throughout the movie, Cregger is able to include a multi-narrative story that immerses viewers into a story of puzzles, thrill, and horror all in one. Many audience members enjoy this factor, but many others also have reasons as to why they dislike the longer watch time. Although the extra minutes give a nice insight into the storytelling, it also starts to bore the audience, as the real horror aspect happens later into the movie.

As a multi-narrative film, each character gets their moment to shine, as there is no “one main character”. Because of this, it has helped bring even more depth and light into the storytelling and terror displayed. Josh Brolin, who played Archer Graff, showed great emotion not just through anger, but also grief. Julia Garner, who played Justine Gandy, portrayed a great, complex character and helped show two sides of a story. Amy Madigan, who played Gladys Lilly, created a terrifying but amusing experience for viewers throughout the movie.
In conclusion, Weapons shows to be a great original film of horror and mysteries that many enjoy, even after its initial release 3 months ago. However, for all great movies, it still has its flaws. Overall, I would give this movie a 4 out of 5 stars.
