An induction night to welcome 8th grade students into the MacUnited program was held on April 1. The event was designed to help new students feel included and give them an idea of what their experience in the program will be like.
“It was to thank and welcome the 8th graders for choosing this program and to welcome them to the program,” Emiliano Bermudez said. The night served as both an introduction and a celebration for the incoming students.
During the event, Bermudez also gave a speech where he shared his personal experience in the program.
“I focused more on the teachers and what they are like,” Bermudez said.
The event was also meaningful for both current and new students because it represents the beginning of a new journey.
“It is a new chance for them.” Bermudez said.
It helped set expectations and encouraged students to feel motivated about what is ahead.
The main speech of the night was given by Kassandra Bravo, who talked about her growth at school and how she has improved over time.
“She talked about being more organized and achieving her goals,” Bermudez said.
Overall, Bermudez hopes the new students are excited for the program.
“We hope they felt grateful and welcomed,” Bermudez said.
