After placing top 3 in district, the Lady Brahma and Brahma Boys Golf teams will be going to regionals in McAllen, TX April 13 to 16.
The Lady Brahma team were crowned 28-5A district champions, and the Brahma Boys placed second.
¨I felt very happy,¨ junior Brianna Simmonds said. ¨I didn’t think we were going to make it but when finding out we made it to regionals I was really happy and just proud that we did it again¨
The golf teams will practice after school on their own time and with their team at local golf driving ranges.
¨When I do practice it´s normally later at night and I just drive to my local golf driving range, hit a couple there, and then use the chipping green and putting green to practice there,¨ sophomore Josiah Lira said. ¨I’m pretty sure I have practice tomorrow after school.¨
The teams are well adjusted to the sport. Members have played for years before being on their respective MacArthur golf teams. Lira and Simmonds have been playing golf for four years and are motivated to do their best in regionals with their team.
¨I just wanna say that I’m so proud of my team. I think we did a really good job this year winning 4 out of 8 tournaments we played in and winning district champions,¨ Simmonds said. ¨…I´m really excited for regionals.¨
