The annual Dads vs. Lads fundraiser, a friendly match that mixes players from the soccer teams with their fathers, took place this past Saturday, Dec. 7. The event is organized by coach Damion Simmons, and it took place on the school’s turf field.
“The event is organized to raise money for the program,” varsity player Aaron Elizondo said. “Every year after the soccer tryouts,” Dads vs Lads is an opportunity for parents to try something their children enjoy while also supporting the program financially. “The money is used to buy new balls and new equipment for the team,” Elizondo said.
Dads vs. Lads has become more than just a game for players and parents; it’s a tradition that brings the community together and supports the growth of the soccer program while allowing parents and students to have quality time together.
“Since our parents are older now, it’s definitely a lot less equal. They can’t keep up since we are always practicing and our parents are obviously past their prime,” varsity player Andrew Puccini said about playing against parents. The students had many fun and favorite moments at Dads vs Lads. “I would say hanging out with my teammate and eating food,” Puccini said.
