The last meeting before winter break for Shelf Love Book Club was held as a cute and cozy Christmas themed party. It was held on Monday, Dec. 8 in Mrs. Rebecca Sibely’s room for all Shelf Love members.
“It was just a fun way of bonding as a club and having fun before the holidays.” sophomore Kaitlin Hall said.
The meeting opened with usual announcements from club president Payton Bell, followed by 10 minutes of reading the club’s current book, Fahrenheit 451. Afterwards, the fun activities began.
“Earlier on in the year we voted on which book we would read and we chose Fahrenheit 451,” Hall said. “It’s been a really good topic for us to talk about at meetings.”
Club members got the chance to socialize with one another, have an amazing bonding experience, and meet new people. The main activity was decorating gingerbread men, which is perfect for the holiday season.
“A lot of us just made gingerbread men for our friends inside and outside of the club,” Hall said. “It made for a good laugh and added to the fun atmosphere.”
This meeting and all other Shelf Love meetings are open to anyone who would like to join. At Shelf Love, you get an opportunity to bond over books, discuss your favorite and current reads and discover new books.
“During meetings, we typically play a game called four corners where Payton has these slides that she puts up and we just go to a corner and we go around in order and talk about why we chose that answer,” Hall said. “It really gives us a chance to get to know one another.”
Take the time to join something new, Shelf Love meetings are held every Monday in C241.
“It gives those the opportunity to step out of their comfort zone and get to meet new people,” Hall said.
