Hosting a spirit week for Month of the Military Child, Student 2 Student, or S2S, has a mission of helping military children feel safe. Over the month, S2S will host a spirit week, with things such as camo day.
“Every day of the week, we’re gonna be dressed in different military themed outfits, like camo day, or wearing purple which is the color for military children…” junior Livinia Gayhart said.
Another thing S2S will do is door decorating. Gayhart said that door decorating adds “a fun way to get people in the community involved and curious about S2S.” Students seeing S2S members or seeing the doors may become interested in what they do, and look into it, possibly joining a new club.
S2S plans to be more ambitious in following years, but it’s their first year doing more, they can’t do as much as they like. S2S is setting the foundation for bigger plans, to spread more awareness as well as get the name out there, according to Gayhart. S2S is really trying to spread as much awareness as they can for military children.
“It’s to help military children feel more comfortable in schools, because they have to move around constantly,” Gayhart said.
